There are a couple of sections you will need to fill in when creating a new test. We will go through each one separately, top to bottom.
Name and submissions
Test Name
The name of the test should be both unique and descriptive of the type of the test, or the qualification granted by it. Shoppers will see this name in their Testing Center interface.
Email of the Test Administrator
Any questions that shoppers might have about the test should be answered by the person whose e-mail is in this field.
Test Status
By default, the test status is set to 'Hold'.
An 'Active' test will be available for shoppers to take, while the 'Deactivated' option allows you to retire the test and prevent any further submissions. Deactivating the test will keep all the results of the test, to the date of deactivation.
Test Available to Shopper
This setting controls when the shoppers are allowed to take a test.
If set as an 'Intro' test, you can further select whether the test is required for all the new shoppers, or can they simply skip it. Depending on that, you can decide is passing the test requirement for the shopper to be activated, or will all shoppers be activated on signup regardless of the test.
Test Submission Limits
This setting gives you the ability to limit the number of submissions for the specific test. Once the limit is reached, the test will be placed in the 'Hold' status.
For an example, if your goal is to have 100 shoppers qualified for a specific program and you do not want to pay for extra submissions, check the box and enter '100' in the field.
Keep in mind that shoppers with submissions in progress will be allowed to complete their tests, even if this limit is reached in the meantime.
Jump Start mode
The Jump Start mode is a shortcut option that allows you to select one of the four most popular test types. Selecting the preset will automatically set the settings for you, but you can adjust those as desired afterwards.
Measurement
Use this type of test to verify how much knowledge the shopper has about a certain topic.
Training
Use this type of test as a training device, so shoppers can gain knowledge on a specific industry and client.
Strict Screening
Use this type of test to select the most knowledgeable shoppers for activation.
Loose Screening
Use this type of test to select reasonably knowledgeable shoppers for activation.
Completion settings
If you are not using the Jump Start mode, the Completion settings can be set to the following options:
- No Special Requirements
- Must Pass - the shopper must continue taking the test until they pass
- Must Get 100% - the shopper must continue taking the test until the highest scoring answer has been selected
- Only Once - the shopper will be able to take the test only once, and never edit their responses
Go Backs
Decide can the shopper to go back to the previous page of their test, without having to complete a pass.
Passes
You can select to limit the amount of passes the shopper can take of the test, and hide or show the answers that were correct.
Pass is considered a full completion of a test.
For multipage tests, a pass occurs when a shopper progresses from the first to the last page. For single-page tests, each instance where the shopper selects “Finish” is considered a pass.
On the same note, each time a shopper submits a test for grading is considered at attempt.
Retries
Set up how many times can the shopper retake the test if they fail, and how often.
By default, tests allow only a single attempt!
If a shopper has passed a test, they will not be allowed to take it again at any point.
If the test has been failed, the shopper may retake it until they pass, or exceed the allowed number of retries.
Excluded test submissions count as failures unless the Grader has opted to make them not count, at which point they will not be deducted from the number of retries a shopper has remaining.
Scoring
Set the predetermined passing grade for the test, and how the test will be graded.
If you have narrative or text questions in your test, you would select the first option and manually grade the test. Otherwise, you can leave the default option selected, and the test will be automatically graded based on your question list settings.
An automatically graded test provides a shopper with a grade immediately upon submission, moving directly to Graded status without requiring a grader's intervention. In contrast, a manually graded test places submissions in Submitted status, where a grader reviews and assigns a grade. Automatically graded tests require a predefined passing score for the system to determine if the shopper has passed, whereas manually graded tests may or may not have a passing score.
Additionally, the last two checkboxes allow you to decide will a shopper be notified of their scores and/or e-mailed a proof of passing the test in question.
Scoring Sections
The Scoring Sections are similar to the 'normal' survey sections. Sectional scores are used to display to the shopper at the end of the test, as well as to display to administrators during the Grader view.
Qualifications Granted by this Test
This function accomplishes the same result as attaching a test to a qualification, which you can do from the Qualification management page.
To add a qualification to the test, click on the dropdown and select a qualification for a list of current qualifications.
If you want to remove the added qualification, simply check the Remove checkbox and use the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.
